You might not think that a pizza kitchen would be a busy place on a Tuesday morning, but two hours before doors opened, the staff at Godfathers Pizza in Brooklyn Park is working hard to fulfill an order placed by Maranatha Christian Academy.
Today I think its 70 pizzas, said Roger Backstrom, owner of the Brooklyn Park Godfathers Pizza. Tuesday is their pizza day and so its 700 slices of pizza that would be enough for all the kids that go to school there.
Backstrom isnt just the owner. In this instance, hes also playing the role of delivery driver for this precious cargo of 70 pizzas.
Yet delivering pizzas to schools only scratches the surface of what Backstrom does as a business owner. Hes also heavily involved with the Brooklyn Park Lions.
Its just such a rewarding experience, and it really kind of filled my life with a lot of special relationships and experiences, Backstrom said.

He started with Godfathers back in 1978, then worked his way up the ranks before becoming the owner of the Brooklyn Park location 12 years ago.
Walking into this Godfathers Pizza is like taking a trip back in time, and they have plenty of fun surprises. From the stained-glass designs on the walls and ceilings, to the Godfather-style decor, this restaurant is heavy on nostalgia.

Very nice owner. He was they person to help. We got the lunch buffet and he asked us if we seen everything we want. My sister wanted a different pizza and they made it for.Salad come with. For small salad bar it was very good and fresh.They seem to only have the buffet at lunch time and we found out Friday’s.
Visited this awesome throwback while back home for a graduation. Still have the best pizza buffet in the country. The newer locations don’t offer the buffets which is sad. The staff has been there for 20+ years and are marvelous. Truly the best desert pizza. 5 star service, 5 star food.
