On the market
What is New York asking?
55,313 homes across the five boroughs are listed for sale or to rent right now by RE/MAX, Coldwell Banker, Corcoran and Douglas Elliman — 52,162 for sale and 3,151 to rent. Every one of them links to the agent’s own page, which is where the price is live and the photographs are.
What is here is the address, the price, the floor area and the room count — facts, and the same facts from every source, so a flat in Flushing and a house in Tottenville can be put beside each other. What is not here is the description or the photographs, which belong to whoever wrote and took them. Price per square foot is worked out only where both numbers were published, never from a size we guessed at.
Where to look
Each borough has its own page, and each is its own market: a one-bedroom in Tottenville and a one-bedroom in TriBeCa share nothing but the number of rooms.

How this stays current
Every night each brokerage publishes a list of what it is offering, and that list is what decides whether a listing appears here at all. An apartment drops off the next time they publish a list without it — it is not marked stale, it is gone, because a page still showing a flat that went weeks ago is worse than a page that does not mention it.
What that leaving means is not something this site claims to know. Usually a home stops being advertised because it sold or let; it can also mean the listing expired, the owner withdrew it, or another broker has it now. All we can see is that the brokerage is no longer offering it, so that is all this says.
