Information collected automatically
When you request a page, the hosting system can process an IP address, request time, requested path, browser user agent and response status for security and reliability. Access logs are kept only for the operational period set by the host's retention policy. A relevant record may be preserved longer when needed to investigate a security incident or meet a legal obligation.
Searches and map use
Street Futures uses searches to return relevant public-record pages. Search text is not intentionally written to the public site or sold. The base map loads tiles directly from the NYC Map Tiles service, so that service receives the technical information normally sent with a web request, including an IP address and browser headers.
Messages and correction reports
If you submit a form, we store the name, email address, subject and message you provide so we can review and respond. These messages are not public. They are ordinarily deleted within 90 days after the issue is resolved, unless the correspondence must be retained for security, legal or correction-history reasons.
Address alerts
If you ask to watch an address, we store the email address, the public-record identifiers needed to match that address, confirmation status and the most recent data report sent. Confirmation is required before alerts begin. Alert emails do not contain tracking pixels and include an unsubscribe link. Expired unconfirmed requests are removed after a short operational period; unsubscribed records are ordinarily removed within 30 days.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Street Futures does not require an advertising cookie, cross-site tracker or user account, and it never sells or shares visitor data.
We use Google Analytics to understand which records and neighborhoods people look for. Where the law requires a request first — the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — nothing is written to your device and no identifier is kept until you accept the request shown on your first visit. Everywhere else measurement starts on, and you can switch it off here. IP addresses are truncated before processing, and the site works exactly the same either way.
Advertising and personalisation signals stay switched off in every country and under either choice. Your choice is remembered in local browser storage and applies until you clear that storage.
Local device storage
The site may use local browser storage for interface preferences such as selected map layers. Those preferences stay on the device unless a future feature clearly explains otherwise.
Your choices
You can use the core site without an account and can avoid submitting contact information. You can stop an address alert from any alert email. To ask about a message or alert, or request deletion, use the contact page and include enough information for us to identify it.
